Easter
I admit to being a complete party pooper this year when it comes to Easter.
We did go to a military party last Friday in which the Easter Bunny made and appearance and Emmaline got to collect eggs. But other than than, I'm not doing anything.
I've struggled with both sides of Easter this year, the religious side and the non religious side. You know those family home evenings that you might have done as a child that had easter eggs filled with meaningful scriptures and props that would remind you of the resurection? I HATE that. I know, I know! Blasphemy. But when it comes to it, I only remember being forced to sit and pay attention when I didn't care. And then on the other side, if you are going to have presents and candy, let it be presents and candy, if you aren't, then make the entire thing gospel centered.
Anyway, I don't want to do Easter baskets. Besides, do I really want to give my girls chocolate or more toys voluntarily? Not this time. The expense outweighs the benifits this year. And for a special Family Home Evening that includes talking about the Resurection? Probably not going to happen. Because seriously? Homework is more important than fighting with Emmaline to try to talk about the resurrection.
Don't get me wrong, I know its important. But right now, I'm thinking its more important to do it on my own schedule and not because we have a holiday telling us to.
So, call me the Party Pooper. And enjoy your respective Easter activities.
