Hair Cut, Cute Pics, Fun Times

Fair warning, these pics are in no specific order. But they are cute. :) Lottie holding Easter eggs she 'found' at the military party (we set her right in front of them, she grabbed one in each hand and started shaking!)
I don't know how she got in here but she loves it!
This big huge plush lion is at the library. Lottie loves 'cuddling' on anything soft like this!
This is Matt, Lottie and Emmaline overlooking the viewpoint on base. More pics of this later...
Did I tell you about our trip to the ER? No? Emmaline put something in her nose...or so she said. So we had to take a nice trip to the ER to fish it out. But it wasn't there. The nurse told her that one hospital bracelets entitled her to a hug whenever she wanted and the other entitled her to a kiss. She actually used them! It was sweet.
Okay, here is the view from the view point. Its Tarague Beach. Pretty sweet, no?
Emmaline looking over the ledge at the viewpoint.
Lottie after eating Spaghetti. I don't know why, but seeing kids covered in spaghetti is one of my favorite things :)
This is the "Before" of my hair. Yes, I took the picture myself so I'm smiling weird. I loved how long it was but it was falling out like crazy. An acquaintance told me that it was probably too heavy and cutting it would help (it didn't :() This is the "After" of my haircut. Again, I'm holding the camera so I have a weird smile. I like my haircut-sometimes. My preference is long but at the same time, I love having the swoopy bangs a lot. It looks better on me. I'm going to grow it back out eventually but hopefully it'll stop thinning...
And thats the end of the pictures! I know, you are sad. But maybe this week I'll finish the cushion for the chair and the mobile for the playroom and I'll take pictures of the entire project! There was a ton that was done and its taken a long time. The results are still up in the air. Im not entirely convinced that the stuff I worked on actually matches the inspiration piece, although the stuff I did all matches eachother... I'll let you decide :)

Easter

I admit to being a complete party pooper this year when it comes to Easter. We did go to a military party last Friday in which the Easter Bunny made and appearance and Emmaline got to collect eggs. But other than than, I'm not doing anything. I've struggled with both sides of Easter this year, the religious side and the non religious side. You know those family home evenings that you might have done as a child that had easter eggs filled with meaningful scriptures and props that would remind you of the resurection? I HATE that. I know, I know! Blasphemy. But when it comes to it, I only remember being forced to sit and pay attention when I didn't care. And then on the other side, if you are going to have presents and candy, let it be presents and candy, if you aren't, then make the entire thing gospel centered. Anyway, I don't want to do Easter baskets. Besides, do I really want to give my girls chocolate or more toys voluntarily? Not this time. The expense outweighs the benifits this year. And for a special Family Home Evening that includes talking about the Resurection? Probably not going to happen. Because seriously? Homework is more important than fighting with Emmaline to try to talk about the resurrection. Don't get me wrong, I know its important. But right now, I'm thinking its more important to do it on my own schedule and not because we have a holiday telling us to. So, call me the Party Pooper. And enjoy your respective Easter activities.

February Resolution

Last month, my New Year's resolution was to add strength training into my work outs. Unfortunately, I never started a work out routine when I moved here (the gym doesn't have child care here which makes it harder to get a work out done). What I decided to do was to purchase free weights and then do a 15 minute routine every night. My aim was to see if I could improve how many reps I did through the weeks.
The result? Failure. Well, thats putting it bluntly. The first week I did great. Matt was working night shifts so once I got him off to work and the girls to bed, I had the time alone to do the work out. But... then I got really sick for two days. And then all of our stuff arrived and I was more concerned with organizing everything than I was with exercising. And then once everything calmed down again, I'd lost the 'groove' of it.
And thats where I failed. It was easier to ignore the weights than to pick them up and try.
Things I learned:
1) I really hate exercising with Matt in the room. I get nervous that he's judging how well I'm doing and I get embarrassed.
2) If I'm going to stick to a home work out plan, I really need to have both the space and a specified time in which to do it. Just saying 'I'll get to it when I get to it' isn't working for me. And moving my work out from room to room based on where I feel like being at the moment, doesn't work either. I'm inclined to skip it because I am constantly dragging my supplies around the house.
3) Sometimes even doing a little bit when I don't feel like doing anything gets me more in the mood to do all of it. So if I plan on doing three sets of exercises every day but one day only feel like doing one, I need to do that one. Often I got enough into the work out that I finished more than just the one rep.
I wish I had some cool stats about where I started and where I ended this month with my goals. I think that sort of post would have been cooler. But it didn't work out this time. Hopefully this month I can keep up with my goals better than I did last month!
